05. The UTM_Content & UTM_Term Tags Library

1 min read

Watch the 2-minute demo to see how to build your Content Tag Library:

Instead of having to type manually the UTM code or try to remember what naming conventions you need to use, just pre-save all your content tags here and they will be readily auto-available for you to use when you are generating your tracking links and tags.

  • All these pre-saved Content Tags will be available for you to use in the Campaign Templates and the Tag Templates, as well, so that you can build complete campaign tracking templates with a few easy clicks.

1. Bulk-import and Bulk-export Large Numbers of Content Tags

To import your Content Tags, all you need to do is Open an Excel Spreadsheet, save all your Content Tags in one column (no heading required), and save as .cvs. Then simply use the UPload button to auto-populate all your Contact Tags in one click.

2. Advanced Features

You can add comments against every tag with instructions relative to how it needs to be used. This is an enterprise feature that needs to be unlocked separately.

3. Where can you see the Content Tags in Google Analytics

In your Acqusitions>All campaigns reports, click on “Ad Content” to find your UTM_content tags. See the image below. This parameter allows you to segment the success of your campaigns by content type:

How It Works

There are various ways to use this UTM tag. Google originally recommended that we use to denote the different keywords for our paid search campaigns. But it can be used for so many other options, for example:

  • To let you track banners with the same content but different size
  • To let you track the same banner but placed in different positions
  • To let you track differently formatted links on an email – the logo-link versus the text link, etc.

1. Easily Bulk-import, Bulk-export and Edit The Term Tag Library

The UTM_Term library is built exactly the same way as the Content Tag library:

You have a lot of options in terms of adding, deleting, letting users favorite or hide tags, and more.
